Limestone Sealer

Limestone Sealer is a water based, VOC compliant, deep penetrating, ready-to-use silicon water repellent manufactured for horizontal surfaces. Limestone Sealer is a Breathable, Colourless, Non-Yellowing, Non-Staining, Non-Flammable, and Non-Film forming water repellent. For use on Limestone and Fremantle Stone, for protection without altering the appearance or texture of the treated substrate.

General Uses

Limestone Sealer provides water repellency to reduce Efflorescence, Erosion, Cracking, Spalling, and Freeze/Thaw damage due to water penetration. Limestone Sealer provides excellent Beading water action for improved Aesthetics. Limestone Sealer Physically and Chemically bonds to the surface, Lengthening Substrate Life, Reducing Biological Growth and Dirt Pickup and making cleaning easier to reduce maintenance costs. Limestone Sealer is formulated to minimise darkening effects (wet look) as not to change the appearance of the substrate. Testing on all substrates is recommended before commercial application.

Application Guide

Surface Preparation

Surfaces must be clean and dry before applying. Remove Dust, Dirt, Oils, Grease, Curing Compounds, Previous Coatings, Efflorescence, and Laitance before applying Limestone Sealer. If cleaning solutions and/or Acids are used during the cleaning process, Neutralize and remove all residues before applying. Before using any surface preparation method, a test patch should be performed with the customer's approval to ensure that their needs are met. Allow new concrete to cure for at least 28 days before application. Prior to application, joints or cracks must be properly sealed or filled. Limestone Sealer will NOT bridge physical cracks. To remove Dirt, Lichen, Moss and Mildew use a recommended cleaner such as Nutech Hypo or 1 part household Chlorine Bleach to 3 parts water containing a Non-Ammoniated Detergent. After Cleaning, Rinse surface thoroughly with water. Cover surfaces not to be sealed e.g. (Windows, Doors, Vehicles, Shrubbery, etc.). Use caution if applying Limestone Sealer with a sprayer. Avoid overspray on windows and other glass surfaces to prevent etching damage. Thoroughly Flush any Contaminated Surface with Clean Water Immediately.

Equipment & Tools

Apply Limestone Sealer using a low-pressure hand pump sprayer (Garden Sprayer), Airless Sprayer, Brush, Broom or Roller.

Test Patch

Apply a Test Patch to evaluate surface appearance and effectiveness of the Coverage Rate.

Application

Apply Limestone Sealer to bare surfaces only.

  1. Product application should be from the Top Down to ensure Uniform Coverage.
  2. 1 (one)Coat of Limestone Sealer on a sloping surface with a 150 to 300 mm Controlled Rundown is recommended.
  3. For application to horizontal surfaces such as pavers, 1 single application is recommended.
  4. If a second coat is required on a porous sloping surface, to ensure Complete Coverage the Second Coat should be applied "wet on wet."
  5. It is NOT recommended to apply a Second coat after the first coat is dry otherwise whitening may occur.
  6. DO NOT allow Limestone Sealer to Pool or Puddle on Non-Porous surfaces to prevent discoloration.
  7. Mop up excess product before it dries to prevent Whitening, Rings or Patching.
  8. If excess is not removed product may dry with a Milky White appearance.
  9. If some whitening occurs, it may be difficult to remove completely but can be reduced by abrading the surface, allowing natural weathering and erosion to take place.
  10. A very mild acid wash can also help in this case.

Clean Up

Thoroughly rinse all application equipment with clean water.

Disposal

Limestone Sealer does NOT contain Chromium, Lead, Mercury or any other Hazardous or Poisonous material. Place Empty Open containers in normal refuse for disposal. Contact your local Government Household Hazardous Waste Coordinator for information on disposal of unused product.

Warnings

DO NOT use below surface grade, or where hydrostatic pressure is expected.

DO NOT apply if the air, substrate or product temperature is less than 7°C. Temperatures higher than 7°C must be obtained in the first 24 hours after application.

DO NOT apply if rain is imminent within 12 hours of application.

Uneven application may result in blotchy appearance of the surface.

Use in a well-ventilated area.

DO NOT dilute unless for use on concrete pavers. 1:1 of Limestone Sealer with water is recommended

Limestone Sealer does not protect against standing water. It is not meant to be used as an immersion product in pools or where continuously exposed to water (birdbaths, fish ponds, etc.) and is not recommended for potable water supplies (drinking water).

DO NOT apply to glazed tile, glazed brick, or previously painted, or sealed surfaces.

Keep out of reach of children.

Top coating with paints and mastics not required.

DO NOT apply to wood.
