Nutech’s range of PaveCoat sealers, in colour and gloss options, is designed as a decorative and protective coating system for a wide range of concrete paving and building applications.

PaveCoat provides excellent adhesion, weather and waterproofing protection and a hardwearing surface. Best results are achieved with two coats on most surfaces. PaveCoat provides superb protection against fading and powdering of oxide colours while also protecting against staining and marking due to contaminants including oil and grease. PaveCoat coloured sealer is non-fading and resistant to discolouration.

Application Guide

Sealing New Concrete Surfaces:

It is very important to clean new concrete before applying PaveCoat sealer. The best method is to high pressure water blast the area at > 2000 PSI to remove concrete salts, dirt, dust and other contaminants.

On smooth concrete and hardened surfaces it is also necessary to etch the surface to improve surface porosity. A mixture of 1 part NuEcoSafe Etch to 10 parts clean water is broomed over the surface and allowed to penetrate for several minutes. Thoroughly flush the surface with water to remove the solution. For stipple finish or a rough concrete surface use 1 part NuEcoSafe Etch to 15 parts clean water.

The first coat of PaveCoat is diluted down 30-50% with Nutech Solvent to assist penetration in to the surface. The top coat does not require thinning and should be applied 'neat'. More than two coats of a light coloured sealer may be required on some surfaces.

If PaveCoat is being applied in hot weather the addition of 2 litres of Nutech Solvent per 20 litres of sealer will reduce surface bubbling. To increase pedestrian and vehicle safety it is recommended to include Nutech Anti-Slip Additive in the final coat.

Although PaveCoat will prevent surface powdering, it does not appreciably increase the hardness of the underlying concrete surface. Soft or damaged concrete should not be sealed without special surface treatment.

Sealing & Resealing Old Surfaces:

It is important to remove all grease, oil, food, contamination and flaking paint before sealing and resealing. Nu-EcoSafe High Strength Degreaser should be used to remove oil and grease. Soak heavy stains if necessary. All degreaser, floor cleaner, silicon and acrylic paint should be completely removed from the concrete surface prior to coating.

Previously sealed surfaces should be scrubbed with Nutech Solvent before resealing to guarantee adhesion. Very old, hard sealer or problem and delaminating sealer surfaces should be scrubbed with Nutech Reactivating Solvent at least 24 hours prior to resealing. It is recommended that a small area be tested by this method and left to weather for at least 4-6 weeks. If the new sealer on the test area fails then stripping the old sealer, etching and high pressure cleaning may be required before resealing.

Before resealing an existing coating which has good surface adhesion the compatibility of the two coatings should be tested in an area to establish suitability.

DO NOT PARK VEHICLES with hot tyres on sealed concrete for at least 5 days.
